Eulogy To Fr. Fraser By Sam Ogabidu
“Father, as years climb the shoulders of years, The hands of time bear aloft, The memorial of your sacrifice, Like the Bishop’s cup when your ‘little ones’, Finally broke the jinx, Your ‘little ones’ whom you taught to pray, For Costa Rica, El-Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, And all the troubled parts of the world, Follow now your lead with dog-nose, To the cool of Garkawa, As wood for a burnt offering, They raise one voice, In praise and prayer, To God for the gift of your heart, Father, your ‘little angels’ and all who dodge, Mass and labour and time GM and Sunday Rice, Are full men now, Pulling the levers of power, From the backwaters of small towns, To the neon lights of great cities, Still every muscle in their faces, Twitch with smiles at the mention, Of your name they remember they remember, The tears with which you washed, The tender shoots of their souls, The bold and vivid petals of life’s promises, Which you and your army of great teachers, Unveiled for them.”
